EFA Morning!

Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon is here. These early mornings are killing me. I don't do them enough that they get easier each time I do them. Anyway just having my morning coffee before heading out to meet my friend Charlie at the Marina who is also volunteering on the bike portion of the race. Charlie's been injured for a year now, some mysterious knee injury that has kept him from training. He's in this race but has to withdraw, hello $300 t-shirt. He got his race shirt but ain't racing. Okay I don't want to leave with that. Today will be an awesome day weather wise, it was yesterday when I biked to the top of Mt.Tam. All those triathlete tourists who came here just for the race with their friends and families are in for another great day. It will be spectacular.

At this moment all the athletes are catching a bus which will take them to the ferry. This ferry boat will then position itself just outside Alcatraz. Once the gun goes off everyone jumps off the boat and swims to San Francisco and the race is on. Too bad I won't be there, I will be on the bike course 10 miles away.

Well I should be off, time to catch that cab. Have a great Sunday everyone.

  1. I hope you're smart enough to take it easy at Diablo. Don't even try to pick up pace!!
