Feet with Arms?

DSCN2609.JPG
Brooks Ad.

Here's an ad that made me laugh last week. I was flipping through Competitor NorCal (formerly known as CitySports), a free sports magazine that we are very lucky to have here in the Bay Area. Sure it's got way too much ads but they have decent articles, it's a good resource for clubs, clinics, athletic stores, etc and most of all free.

Anyway the ad is saying that your feet would be so happy with their shoe technology that if they had arms they'd shake your hand. What made me almost spit my coffee all over my iMac was the visuals in my head that followed. If my feet had arms and God forbid, hands, they would hold me down and pay me back for all the black and lost toenails, stubbed toes, blisters and long miles. They would also undoubtedly hide the checkbook and wallet so I can no longer sign up for any more races.

I've never run in a pair of Brooks, they look like a nice pair though.

If your feet had arms and hands, what would they do?:)

If my feet had arms & hands I would let them know that they need to be supportive and HELP my poor feet and if they don't they will experience the much WORSE PAIN, Soprano Style :-)

  3. You guys are too much!

Hey Rick, Thanks for your input. I think the problem is in the area where the IT band attaches to the tibia. I wish I had a sports medicine doc at my disposal, but I have an HMO, you know how that goes .. Besides, who needs a doctor when I have the Guru of endurance training giving me advise...;)

I'm going to attempt an 18 miler this Saturday (which will bring me past your floating pool ..lol) and see how my leg holds out. If it continues to bother me,I may have to ditch Portland , but I'm not going to make that decision until marathon weekend.( I kinda wanted to volunteer this year anyway)

I've managed to do two shorter walks this week and haven't have any significant problems.

I also have a foam roller coming today from Zombie which I intend to use religiously.

    Thanks again!

  5. I looooove my Brooks road shoes! And I am glad my feet don't have arms and hands, because that extra weight might cause me to pronate more than I already do... :)

  8. :) What a thought! I do love competitor magazine though. They usually have them at jamba juice, and as I was somewhat addicted last year, I'd always get my copy as soon as it came out!
