San Diego 100: The Quick Update

Thanks to Bob Gentile, some of you already know how I did. Apparently the webcast wasn't very successful. Too bad really because everything else was great about this event. Race director Scott Mills, the rest of the race staff and the volunteers did an amazing job. The people were incredible and so were my fellow participants.

We started at 6am Saturday and I finished at 2am Sunday for a time of 20:00:25 which was good for 6th place and a new 100-mile PR. Yes, you can bet I was rushing in the end to try and get in under 20 hours. It was going well until the last 7 or so miles, from the last aid station to the finish. I was spent mentally which made it hard to stay motivated and keep pushing. Nevertheless I'm happy with my performance and my time. Huge thanks to Olga for preparing my splits which was my guide throughout the run and a huge, huge shout out to my best friend Jessica who was my crew, photographer and chauffeur for the entire race weekend. She racked a lot of miles driving from aid station to aid station and replenishing supplies.

Photos and race report to come.

Preliminary results from UltraRunning magazine.

Partial results. Ben Hian was first with an 18:15. Suzanna Bon was first woman with a 19:32 and a new course record.

  7. Yeah, that was a conservative goal. I was afarid a bit to give you real to not freak you out and gave you what I was certain you'll break. Now you come to Rocky and run sub-18. Piece of cake.
Congrats, kiddo. You made your trail mama proud. I'll drink beer with you in a couple of weeks.
