Just another day at the Headlands. Went out for another long run, met up with some friends who were doing theirs in Marin. Went shorter than planned but felt so good that I've decided to go ahead and enter this weekends race in the East Bay, the Dick Collins Firetrails 50-miler. Planning to do it as a training run. A little long for a training run considering the Quad Dipsea is only 28 miles but it'll be alright. Been itching to do a race. This was my first 50-miler back in 2002 but I've never been back since. I remember that the BBQ was really good or did it just taste good after 50 miles? Anyway I think a lot of first timers for the 50 mile distance do this race. Looking at the roster I'm surprised at the number of people attempting their first 50-miler. More power to them. It should be a nice day.

  2. Haha, I will torture you with more pics later. Jason is in Pittsburgh. Visiting his sister and nieces before starting his new job. Stephen has a work thing but he already qualified for the WS lottery. Georgia will be there though. We run about the same pace and both of us are in the same shape...unless she was sandbagging at RdL.

You're going crazy arent' you:) Now that you're running less.

  3. Hi Rick.....Have fun at Firetrails. Its a long term goal of mine...maybe next year. (It's in my old backyard - Castro Valley is my hometown.)

I'm a longtime lurker to your blog and have enjoyed reading about your training! : )

  4. I forgot to add in my race report the incident about girl puking and your wonder if you could help her (her lunch):)

  5. That's great that you signed up and unluck Olga I am not itching to get out for anything longer than a marathon at the moment. I am sure I will do many more ultras next year, but every once in awhile we need a break from the long stuff. Good luck this weekend.
